Dr. Stephanie Lirio is a psychiatrist in Sarasota and Manatee areas

Dr. Stephanie Lirio was raised in Sarasota, FL, and following graduation from Pine View School, moved to Washington, DC, to complete a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree at Georgetown University. After graduating from New York Medical College, she completed a psychiatry residency at the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, PA, and subsequently completed a Child and Adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, ranked as the top children’s hospital in the country for five consecutive years. Following her graduation from fellowship, she joined the faculty of the department of psychiatry at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia as a consultation/liaison attending psychiatrist.

For seven years, she remained in that role, preforming a variety of clinical and administrative roles. She performed hundreds of psychiatric evaluations and consultations, on an inpatient and outpatient basis, in addition to providing crisis assessments in the Emergency Room. She developed an area of expertise in psychiatric conditions in medically compromised children and adolescents, providing specialized consultation to the divisions of adolescent medicine, cardiology, and gastroenterology. She additionally developed expertise in managing patients with eating disorders in an inpatient setting in conjunction with the general pediatricians and adolescent medicine physicians. Finally, Dr. Lirio was a member of the teaching faculty of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, providing instruction to medical students, residents, and fellows.


After moving back to Sarasota, FL, with her family in 2012, Dr. Lirio joined Gulf Coast Medical Group and Venice Regional Medical Center, and a solo provider, built a successful outpatient practice of over 300 patients before transitioning to her current role at Family COPE. She was appointed to the teaching faculty of the Florida State University School of Medicine’s Sarasota campus, and provides instruction to medical students in her office and in the hospital. Finally, Dr. Lirio was selected as one of Sarasota Magazine’s top doctors for three consecutive years..Dr. Lirio currently lives in Sarasota with her husband and 3 children. In her free time, she enjoys training for half marathons, baking, watching Philadelphia Eagles football, and going to DisneyWorld with her family.
