
Dr. Tia Westheimer is a licensed psychologist who received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Florida School of Professional Psychology. She works with individuals of various ages, but has specialized training in the treatment of children and adolescents. Her graduate studies also included a concentration in neuropsychology. Dr. Westheimer’s pre-doctoral internship was completed at The Children’s Home in Tampa, Florida with an emphasis on adoption preservation, childhood neglect, trauma, and evaluation. She also completed a rotation working in the walk-in center at Manatee Glens Hospital in Bradenton, Florida providing immediate crisis intervention, assessment and referral, and short-term counseling. Her post-doctoral residency was completed at a local forensic private practice where she remained for three years.
Dr. Westheimer has provided individual and family therapy, group counseling, and comprehensive psychological evaluations to adults, children, and families in various clinical settings. She has experience working in neuropsychological, community mental health, private practice, public school, and group home settings. Dr. Westheimer has also worked in numerous residential treatment centers. She employs an integrated treatment approach incorporating directive and non-directive therapy models. Her practice with children also utilizes expressive therapies such as play, art, and sand.
